Harriet Jean Benik, 72, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Saturday, May 1st, surrounded by her family, at her residence. Jean was born in Natrona Heights, on January 21, 1949, a daughter of the late Lucille (Goughenour) and Matthew E. Sarver. She was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church. Before becoming a homemaker, she had previously worked in the accounting department at Gulf Research in Harmar. Jean enjoyed singing karaoke, was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and loved watching her grandchildren play sports. Jean is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Daniel Benik; two sons Gary (Carrie) Benik, of Monmouth County,NJ and Ryan (Leila) Benik, of Gibsonia; her daughter, Kylie (Michael) Oliver, of Cranberry. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two brothers, Edward J. (Lorraine) Sarver and Charles (Debbie) Sarver; three sisters, Nancy (Richard) Cerrone, Joyce Spiering and Becky (William) Ross. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Donna Crabill. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday May 4th from 4-8 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the Freeport United Methodist Church.
