John P. Ruffner, 89, of Freeport, passed away on Monday, November 4th, at Platinum Ridge, Brackenridge. John was born in Freeport, on July 7, 1935, a son of the late Agnes (Easley) and Gale J. Ruffner. John graduated from Freeport High School in 1953 and lived in Freeport most of his life. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1953-1956 during Korea. John retired from Freeport Terminals after 43 years and enjoyed yard work, reading and attending his grandson's sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Neupert) Ruffner, who he married November 25, 1959, his sons, John Todd (Christine) Ruffner, of Mars and Brady Ruffner of Freeport, 2 grandsons, Theodore and Zachary Ruffner and a brother, William (Carol) Ruffner of Natrona Heights. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Per John's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Memorial donations may be made to the Freeport Area Library, 428 Market Street, Freeport, PA 16229.
