John Gary Huth, Jr, 67 of Slippery Rock, PA, passed away Friday October 10, 2025 at his home.
John (Jack) was born on November 6, 1957 in Leechburg, PA, the son of John Gary Huth, Sr. and Donna (Huff) Huth. He married Elizabeth (Beth) Taylor, of Vandalia, IL on April 14, 1985. They had one son, John Gary Huth, III (Arlene Huth) in 1994.
Jack was a recognized football player for the Freeport Yellowjackets from 1973 to 1976. As a 130 pound sophomore tailback Jack began his high school football career. As a junior, he surpassed 2000 yards and earned a spot on the small-school All-State team. He went on to graduate in 1976 as Freeport’s all-time leading rusher (a record that still stands). Jack was inducted into the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame on April 27, 2025.
After graduation, Jack began his construction career as an electrical apprentice. He moved into the office in 1984 working as an electrical estimator and became an electrical project manager shortly after. He ran major projects such as power plants, hospitals, stadiums, prisons, etc. across the nation. He retired in 2021.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his camp that he built with friends and relatives. He almost never missed a Steelers or Penn State Football game. He also enjoyed vacationing on Siesta Key with his wife, son, mother-in-law, and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife Beth Huth (Slippery Rock), mother Donna Morson (Houston, TX), brother Bill (Terri) Huth (Freeport, PA), sister Linda Huth (Houston, TX), son John Huth, III and wife Arlene (Seward, PA), and mother-in-law Donna Taylor (Vandalia, IL)
He was preceded in death by his father, sister Bonnie Huth, and father-in-law Edward Taylor.
Visitation will be held from 9 am to 11 am on Thursday, October 16, at Redmond Funeral Home in Freeport, PA. Father Richard J. Kosisko, JCL will conduct a funeral mass at St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church in Freeport at 11am following the visitation. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Freeport.
