Joyce A. (McNeel) Hoak

Joyce Ann McNeel Hoak, age 79, of New Bethlehem, passed away on July 25, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital. A daughter of the late John and Teresa (Gianotti) McNeel, she was born May 5, 1942, in Natrona Heights, and a resident of Freeport, for over 60 years. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Joyce is survived by husband of 57 years, Harry Hoak; son Keith (Natasha) Hoak of Cocoa, FL; granddaughters Olena and Caroline; sisters Carol (Robert) Jackson of Lower Burrell and Deborah Westendorf of Tarentum; many loving nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog Liberty. A 1960 graduate of Freeport High School, Joyce became a Registered Nurse (RN) after attending Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Recognized as an exemplary nurse, she worked in the Intensive Care and Cardiac Care units of Allegheny Valley Hospital her entire career. An MS diagnosis may have slowed her down, but it never affected her love of medicine and spirit of helping others. Joyce greeted life with a smile and brightened the day of all she met. Always with the love of her life by her side, she and Harry made friends wherever they traveled. Whether eating at Joe's or shopping at Walmart, the two were familiar faces everywhere in New Bethlehem and Freeport. To those of us whose lives she touched, we long to hear it just one more time, "Let's go, Joycee". A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 31st at 12 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. with Fr. Gilbert Gente of St. Mary, Mother of God, Church officiating.
