Joyce C. (White) Ralston

Joyce C. Ralston, 81, of Freeport, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Joyce was born in Freeport on November 3, 1940, a daughter of the late Marjorie S (Schwietering) and William T. White. Joyce was a 1958 graduate of Freeport High School. She enrolled at the St. Margaret's School of Nursing and received her degree as registered nurse in 1960. She worked at St. Margaret Hospital and Butler Memorial Hospital before starting her family. After her girls got a little older she went back to nursing and worked many years as a private duty nurse for families in the Freeport Area. Joyce was a long time member of the Freeport Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Aux. She was a lifelong fan of the Freeport Yellowjacket’s football team and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader. Joyce's greatest love was for her family. She was a former member of the old Trinity Episcopal Church in Freeport. Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert P. Ralston. Her three daughters, Lynne A. Noble & Bob Braun of Worthington; Kathleen A. Copeland & Joe Kihn of Freeport and Christine M. Witenski of Cowensville. Her grandchildren, Danielle Riedell, Deborah Webb, David Riedell, Sarah Copeland, Johnathon Witenski and Jacob Witenski. Joyce is also survived by her five siblings, John T. & Patricia White of Allison Park; William A. White of Laguna Hills, CA.; Phyllis & Edward Petras of Murrells Inlet, SC; Mark A & Vicki White of Butler, Paul E. & Cyndee White of Sarasota, FL and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her sister Gayle Allison White, daughter Beth Ann Ralston, grandson Daniel Patrick Ralston. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 26th from 3-5 & 7-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St in Freeport. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 27th at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport with Rev. Edward Volz OPS, officiating.
