Judith Y. Hallman, 84, of Freeport, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 10th, while surrounded by loved ones. Judy was born in Natrona Heights, PA on November 2, 1938, a daughter of the late Mary Louise (Call) and Charles W. Young. Judy was a 1956 graduate of Freeport High School and then received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Grove City College in 1960. She loved her career teaching Business Education at Freeport High School, as well as her role as cheerleading coach. Judy was a devout member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. She was a past board member of the Freeport Pool and Freeport Library. She taught CCD classes at St. Mary Parish School in Freeport. She loved the beach, playing cards, traveling, and being with her family. However, in her later years, her greatest joy was spending time with her two grandchildren. Judy is survived by her husband of sixty years, Robert B. "Huck" Hallman; two sons, Robert C. Hallman of Fox Chapel, Daniel J. Hallman and his husband Mario Oyarzabal of the Netherlands; her grandchildren, Katherine & R. Benjamin Hallman; two sisters, Charlotte Colledge of Naples, FL and M. Janice, (John) Shaffer, of Cincinnati, OH; and her brother, Charles J. “Chip”, (Carolyn) Young of Mt. Lebanon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law R. Allan Colledge. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 16th from 4-6 p.m. and Sunday, September 17th from 12-2 & 4-6 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Monday, September 18th at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, PA with Msgr. Gilbert Gente officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. A private family burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport at a later date.
