Karla Wood Obituary

Karla D. Wood, 64, of South Buffalo Twp, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning.

Karla was born in Kittanning on November 8, 1961, a daughter of the late Helen L. (Cyphers) Baker and Karl L. Baker.

She was the beloved wife of John E. Wood, III, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage.

Karla was a 1979 graduate of Freeport High School. She was a social member of the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department. Karla loved crafting and animals—especially dogs—and was an avid collector of snowmen. She also enjoyed baking for the South Buffalo Township Fish Fries.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Johnelle (William) Wood of New Kensington and Brandy (Michael) Granstrom of West Deer; her son, Zachary (Brittany) Wood of South Buffalo Township; eight grandchildren, Gabriel, Athena, Bryanna, Adalynn, Tyler, Matthew, Tyrese, and Nicholas; and her siblings, Keith Baker of Florida, Debbie Claypool of Karns City, Lisa Wilson of Arnold, and Sharon Dato of North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunts, Helen Baker and Shirley Baker; niece, Dacia Ray, uncle and aunt, John and Betty Hurson; her paternal grandparents, Kenny and Pearl Baker; and her maternal grandparents, Mary & Harvey Cyphers.

In accordance with Karla’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

Memorial donations may be made to South Buffalo Vol. Fire Dept. 100 Fire Hall Rd. Freeport, PA 16229.
