Keith King Obituary

Keith Alden King, 75, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022, while surrounded by his family, at Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. Keith was born in New Kensington on December 3, 1946, a son of the late Ruth E. (Crise) and Henry O. King. He was the widower of Elaine M. (Poydence) King who passed in 2007. Keith was a 1964 graduate of Apollo High School. After high school, Keith enlisted into the US Marine Corps. He served with the Marines during the Vietnam War.  He was a corporal, achieved expert marksman and received a Purple Heart.  When Keith received his honorable discharge he came back home and took a job with the Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Company in Indiana. Keith was chief electrician with R&P Coal for 29 years. After the coal mine closed, Keith went to work as an electrician for Redland Brick in Harmar for 9 years, retiring in 2009.   Keith was a life member of the VFW Post 4843 in Ford City and a proud Marine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and woodworking. Keith and his family owned quarter horses for many years and he was an avid rider.  He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, never missing a game. Before his wife's passing in 2007, they enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and traveling all over the United States. Keith was quietly a very charitable man, giving to many organizations throughout his lifetime. His greatest love was his family, he hosted many family reunions at his home. He never missed any of his grandkids sporting events or activities, and was their biggest fan.   Keith is survived by two sons, Keith A. King of South Buffalo Twp.: Shawn H. & Kerri King of Buffalo Twp. and daughter, Deanna M. & Ryan Mack of Natrona Heights. His five grandsons, Brayden, Garrett, Taylor, Kolton and Daniel King and his granddaughter, Lexi King.  Keith is also survived by three brothers, Roger King, Mark & Suzy King, David & Carol King, sister, Sue Hahto, his brother in law Joseph Vranesevich, sister in law JoAnn (Randy) Penrod and numerous niece and nephews   In addition to his beloved wife, parents and in-laws, Keith is preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny and Thomas King and sisters, Dolores “Dee" King and Ruth Ann Vranesevich.     Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 11 am in the funeral home with Reverend James Neal officiating.  Burial with military honors will be held in St. Francis DePaul Cemetery in Cadogan., PA.    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to;  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
