Lillian M. Pernazza, 97, of Buffalo Twp., formerly of Freeport, peacefully passed and was greeted by her husband, Geno, at Heaven’s gates. Lillian was born in Leechburg, on August 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Anna (Dupal) and Fred J. Segorek, Sr. She attended Leechburg High School. She met the love of her life, Geno, and got married on August 21, 1948. She was his partner in all activities throughout their 70 years together. Anyone who lived in Freeport would see Lil and Geno on their daily walks or leave the house to enjoy their weekly dancing. She was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, CD of A and the Altar Society. She also volunteered at church fund raisers and helped cook for St. Mary's School. She was a member of the Freeport Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary and assisted with girl scouts and cub scouts. She was a custodian and enjoyed being a cafeteria monitor at the Freeport Elementary School for 11 years.
She loved playing bingo, sitting on her porch talking to her neighbors, casino bus trips and vacations. Her favorite past time was attending all her grandchildren’s events and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Bill) Singer, of Buffalo Twp, and Terri Pernazza-Beacom, of Buffalo Twp.; and her son, Jim (Janet) Pernazza, of Buffalo Twp. She is also survived by two grandsons Tyler (Kathryn) Singer and Mark (Jamie) Beacom, two granddaughters, Ashley Pernazza and Celeste Beacom; great grandchildren, Angelo & William Singer, Ella Greiner and one on the way.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Fred Segorek Jr. and grandsons, Thomas & Mark Greiner.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday February 11th, from 3-8 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary, Mother of God Church with Reverend Richard J. Kosisko, JCL and Father Edward Volz co-celebrating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
