Linus Joseph Halin, 77, of Moseley, VA, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Laurels of Willow Creek in Midlothian, VA. Lin was born in Natrona Heights, PA on June 29, 1947, the son of the late Grace A. (Wagner) and Linus R. Halin. Lin received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). He was an 8th grade social studies teacher at the Freeport Area School District for 36 years. He also coached 9th grade football and timed basketball and track and field events at Freeport for many years. Lin enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren along with being a fan of the Penguins and Steelers. Lin was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with family. Lin is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judith A. (Stover) Halin of Moseley, VA; his two sons Jason M. (Kelly) Halin of Hanson, MA and Matthew P. (Katie) Halin of Chesterfield, VA, grandchildren; Clara, Max, Elinor, Benjamin and Nathanael, his sister Arlene Haduch of Delmont, PA and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Linus and Grace Halin. Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Saturday January 4, 2025 from 10AM to 1PM at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High Street, Freeport. A private funeral service will be held at 1PM with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freeport Area Library Association 428 Market St, Freeport, PA 16229.
