LuAnn Keener Obituary

LuAnn Keener joyfully entered the arms of Jesus on May 15, 2024 after the most courageous battle with Leukemia. She passed surrounded by loved ones, her family and her 'angels' at UPMC Shadyside 6 West. Through the last 5 years, LuAnn has inspired many with her unending Faith as she faced the biggest storm of her life. Up until the very end, she shared the love of the Lord and her testimony with everyone she spoke to. Her legacy is one of strength, hope, love, forgiveness and Faith.

LuAnn was born on October 21, 1958 and is the daughter of the late Gary LeRoy "Bunk" and Rowena J. (Zimmerman) Carrier. Born into a massive family of seven, she quickly learned the meaning of true love and made it her job to care for all of her siblings. A graduate of Freeport Area Senior High School, LuAnn went straight into a career in banking where she made many friends and touched many lives until her retirement in 2019.

LuAnn married the love of her life, Theodore G. “Ted” Keener in August of 1980. Their love story is one for the ages and a true example of true love and devotion. She is the loving mother of Melissa (Keener) Janoski, she always claimed their hearts were two halves of one whole. She fiercely loved her son in law, Ryan Janoski. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren. Becoming a Mimi was the honor of her life. She poured her heart and soul into Lilyann Grace and Isaiah (Bunk) and in recent years, her "honorary granddaughter" Kerstyn. A beautiful artist, LuAnn loved to spend her time crafting and sharing her love of art. She loved being at the beach and spending her vacations with her family in Sandbridge.

She was greeted at Heaven's gates with open arms by her late father and mother, Gary and Rowena Carrier, as well as her in-laws Donald Keener and Annette Pirrone, several friends and family, and most excitingly, the four children she lost along the way.

She is survived in death by her husband of 43 years, Ted Keener. Her daughter Melissa (Ryan) Janoski, grandchildren Lilyann and Isaiah "Bunk" Janoski, honorary granddaughter, Kerstyn Hooks of Cabot. Siblings: William (Linda) Carrier, Daniel (Dawn) Carrier, Teri Jo Carrier, John (Jodi) Carrier, Joan (Doug) Hilliard and Michael Carrier. LuAnn was also a beloved member of the Keener clan, she is survived by her husband's loving sister and brothers, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

LuAnn fiercely fought and lived life as a beacon of light for the Kingdom of God. She spent her last days comforting her loved ones, offering words of wisdom, and sharing the gospel.

The family would like to thank the nurses and entire staff at UPMC Shadyside 6 West, Dr. James Rosetti, nurses of the Stem Cell Unit at Hillman Cancer Center and all of those who have prayed for her and allowed her to inspire them along the way.
