Marianne Bower, 68, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, while surrounded by her family, at Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lower Burrell, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Marianne was born in Natrona Heights, PA on January 28, 1953, a daughter of the late Ford C. and Mary Virginia (Haggart) Bower. Marianne was a wonderful homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Marianne enjoyed reading, shopping, jewelry and spending time with her family and loved ones. She will be sadly missed. She is now going to go for a long walk with her sister Kathy, who she loved and missed dearly. Marianne is survived by her two sons: Gregory A. Hess and Melanie Hartman, of Buffalo Township, and Scott A. (Julie) Hess, of Buffalo Township; seven grandchildren; Zack Hartman, Kayla Montgomery, Devan Hess, Anastasia Hess, Aubrey Hess, Avelyn Hess and Andrew Hess. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Gerald Shimpeno, of Buffalo Township, several nieces and nephews and by her brother, Charles Bower, of Big Bear, CA. Besides her parents, Marianne is also preceded in death by her granddaughter Angel Jo Hess, her sister Kathleen Shimpeno and her nephew, David Bower. At Marianne’s request there will be no public visitation and funeral services will be private.
