Mary E. (Snider) Huth

Mary E. (Snider) Huth, 92, of Freeport, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 peacefully at Quality Life Services in Sarver. Mary was born in Freeport on March 27, 1931, a daughter of the late Frances (Schreckengost) and Clarence Snider. She was the widow of James B."Firp" Huth, who passed away in 2019. They were married for 70 years. Mary was a 1948 graduate of Freeport High School. Mary worked for many years as a cook in the cafeteria at Freeport Area High School. She was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport and a life-long resident of Freeport. Mary enjoyed music from the 40’s and 50’s, reading, and traveling, especially bus trips with friends or trips to the beach. She carried her cooking talent into holiday dinners and Christmas cookies. She loved watching her kids play sports and prioritized her grandchildren’s milestone events. She also enjoyed watching westerns or Pittsburgh sports with Firp in their golden years. Mary is survived by her five sons and one daughter, Michael J. & Rosalyn Huth, of South Buffalo Twp.; Rebecca L. & Gary Walker, of Freeport; David A. & Linda Huth, of Buffalo Twp.; Jeffrey A. & Cindy Huth, of Beaver, PA; Chris G. & Missy Huth, of Williamsburg, VA; James F. & Kris Huth, of Mechanicsburg, PA; as well as her brother James Snider. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her son, Paul B. Huth and her brothers, Robert and Charles "Lindy" and sisters, Edna, Lelia, Ruth, and Eva. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 5th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 6th at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, PA with Reverend Richard J. Kosisko, JCL officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Mary, Mother of God Church, 608 High St., Freeport, PA 16229.
