Mildred (Millie) J. Macurdy, 99 of Sarver, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Millie was born April 11, 1925 in Butler, grew up in Russelton, PA and moved to Springdale. She graduated from Springdale High School and worked at West Penn Power Company as a secretary for 8 years. Millie married William Macurdy in 1948. She later worked at Servomation and then retired from United Way in 1984. She lived in Sarver for 60 years and moved to Freeport in 2006. She moved back to Sarver with her daughter and son in law in 2021.
Millie enjoyed watching her grandchildren Jeremiah and Alyssa, traveling to her son and daughter in law’s home in Houston and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Natalie and Braden. Her and Bill traveled to Sebastian Florida for many years where they enjoyed golfing, swimming, playing cards and enjoying the sunshine and fun times.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church & the Coffee Klatch Sunday School class. She was secretary of Freeport Food Bank and also helped with Meals on Wheels for many years. Millie also enjoyed exercise classes at the YMCA.
Millie is survived by her loving children, Linda (David) Huth of Sarver and David (Kimberly) Macurdy of Conroe, TX, 4 grandchildren, Jeremiah Huth and Alyssa (Jake) Barrett and Natalie and Braden Macurdy, step grandchild, Caitlyn (Anthony) Davini, great step grandchild, Dayton Frost and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William B. "Bill" Macurdy, her daughter, Ruth Ann Macurdy, her sister, Marion E. Rowe and her parents.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11 am - 1 pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 2 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Fifth Street, Freeport with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Truscott officiating.
