Nick J. Gula, 90, of Natrona Heights, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, peacefully, at his home. Nick was born in Tarentum on November 17, 1932, a son of the late Edith (Broggi) and Guy S. Gula. He was the widower of Jean (Barr) Gula who passed away in 2014. Nick was a 1950 graduate of Tarentum High School. After school, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Nick came home to the Valley and took a job at US Gypsum in Oakmont where he worked as a millwright for the next 35 years. However, his favorite job was when he came out of retirement to work for Roenigk Bus Service. He had the pleasure of driving elementary students to and from school each day until he was 82 years of age. Nick was a member of Natrona Heights Church of the Brethren where he provided heating, plumbing, electric and maintenance services for many years. Nick enjoyed bird and deer hunting, working around his home and spending time with his family, especially enjoying his great grandchildren Layla, Sasha, Jaxson, and Harper. Nick is survived by two daughters, Susan Gula, of Lancaster, PA and Sandra Shaner, of Natrona Heights and his grandchildren Jason (Sara) Garvey and Chelsea Shaner. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 22nd from 3-5 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Private burial will take place Friday morning at Mt. Airy Cemetery. Friends are also welcome to attend and remember Nick during the annual Christmas Candlelight service on Friday, December 23rd at 6:30 pm at the Natrona Heights Church of the Brethren, 1007 Davis Street.
