Phillip Ohl Obituary

Phillip Leroy Ohl, 62, of Buffalo Twp., passed away at his home on Monday, September 20, 2021 while in the company of his family by his side. Phil was born in Natrona Heights on June 10, 1959, a son of Eva Jean (Burtner) Ohl, of Cabot, PA and the late Edwin L. Ohl. Phil was a 1977 graduate of Highlands High School. He received his Associates Degree from Triangle Institute of Technology in 1979. Phil worked for 42 years in engineering, design and construction servicing the steel and power industries. He has spent the last 20 years with Hatch Associates Consultants, Inc. Pittsburgh. Phil was a skilled outdoorsman. He was a member of Bull Creek Rod & Gun Club for 40 years, a PA Hunter Trapper Education Instructor for 20 years, and a member of the White Eagle Camp Association in Medix, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, winter trips to Wyoming, and peaceful days at camp. Phil was a supportive and loving husband and family man. He was always present at his childrens’ activities whether it be cold mornings at ice hockey games or long hours at dance recitals. He was loved by all with his kind smile and great personality. Phil is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cindy M. (Somers) Ohl, their 2 children, daughter, Abigail M. Ohl, of New York, NY and Airman First Class, Slade A. Ohl, of Nellis Air Force Base, NV. In addition to his mother, Phil is also survived by his brother, Terry & Susan Ohl, of Buffalo Twp., sister, Karen & Steven Wirth, of Bradford Woods, PA, his niece, Alena E. Petkova of Dade City, FL, his in-laws Ronald and Anna Mary Somers, brothers-in-law Ronald (Kim) Somers, Scott (Stacy) Somers and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, September 24th in the funeral home with Rev. Jack Hartman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeport Council of Churches Food Bank 102 Fifth Street, Freeport, PA 16229 or Freeport Area Meals-On-Wheels 211 4th St. Freeport, PA 16229.
