Richard R. "Dick" Bertino, 85, of South Buffalo Twp;, passed away peacefully June 13, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side. Dick was born on April 7, 1941, the son of the late Ada (Pofi) and August Bertino. He was a graduate of Freeport Area High School Class of 1960. He also graduated from Vale Tech in Blairsville. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor at Allegheny Valley Hospital for 15 years and at Napco Windows for 10 years as maintenance supervisor. After retirement, Dick worked as the Cemetery Director at St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport for 16 years. He also worked at Buffalo Golf Course as a starter. Dick was a life member of St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport. Dick was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus Natrona Counsil 2602. He served as a past grand knight, trustee, and commander of the 4th degree color guard. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family, the Steelers, and especially golfing.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary (Hager) Bertino; his loving children, son, Richard A. "Rick" Bertino and his daughter Susan M. (Stuart) Malcolm. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Jarred S. (Andria) Malcolm of Florida and and Merrissa N. (Cory) Dutton of Ohio; four great grandsons, Daxton, Deklan, Dax & Nash.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16th, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 17th, in St. Mary Mother of God Church, Freeport with Father Rody Mejia officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
