Richard Guy DeFelice, Sr., 85, of South Buffalo Twp., passed to the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2022, peacefully with his wife holding his hand. Richard was born in New Kensington on July 6, 1937, a son of the late Julia (Varesco) and Guy DeFelice. Richard was a 1956 graduate of Arnold High School. He attended Carnegie Mellon College of Engineering. Richard took a position as a lab tech at Gulf Research in Harmar. He worked for Gulf for 48 years, retiring in 1986. Richard was an exceptionally talented woodworker, crafting custom furniture including the crucifix that hangs in St. Mary, Mother of God Parish in Freeport and the main altar crucifix at St. Lawrence Parish in Cadogan. He was the cofounder of the Blazin' Blades Scrollsaw Club of Western Pennsylvania. He was a proficient scrollsaw artist, clocks being his favorite project. Richard was a life member of the Arnold Vol. Engine Co. #2. Richard is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 64 years, Jacqueline (Piquard) DeFelice. Their sons, Richard Guy (Theresa) DeFelice, Jr., of Eldersburg, MD and Matthew Gerard (Brenda) DeFelice of Moss Bluff, LA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Zachariah, Alexandra and Annaliese. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and two infant daughters. He will be greatly missed by his beloved poodle Lucy. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 22nd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, November 23rd at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport with Rev. Edward Volz OSPPE and co-celebrants, Msgr. Gilbert Gente and Father Ronald Maquinana officiating. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orphans of the Storm, 11878 Pennsylvania 85, Kittanning, PA 16201
