Robert L. Baker, Sr. 82, of Natrona Heights, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 while surrounded by his family, at his home. Bob was born on his family's farm in South Buffalo Twp. on October 4, 1941, a son of the late L. Pearl (Brewer) and John Lynn Baker. He was a 1959 graduate of Freeport High School. After graduation, Bob worked for a few years at his father-in-law's service station in Natrona Heights. He then went to work as a diesel mechanic with Freeport Transport Inc. In 1964 he was drafted into the US Army. Bob spent nine months in Vietnam as a door gunner with the 155th Assault Helicopter Company. He received his honorable discharge in 1966 along with his Outstanding Unit Award and Army Commendation Medal, all of which he was very proud. He came back home to Freeport and went right back to his job with FTI. He retired from the trucking company in 2003. A 59-year member of the F&AM, Armstrong Lodge #239 and a lifetime member of the Natrona Heights VFW Post #894. Bob enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie “Margie” P. (Malits) Baker. His daughter, Lori A & Bill Huet, of Natrona Heights and his son, Robert L. & Nicole Baker, Jr, of New Kensington. His grandchildren; Ashley & Dylan Seelnacht, Billy & Lauren Huet, Allison Huet, Emmy Huet, Taylor Baker & Alaina Baker. Great grandchildren; MacKinlay, Jaxon Ray, Jaxon James, Kennedy, Lyla & Rowan. Bob is also survived by his brother, Fred Baker, of Rockledge, FL. and his dog, Abby. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John E. Baker. Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 13th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 am on Saturday, October 14th with Pastor Adam Clever officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA, PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929 and/or Pets for Vets Inc., P.O.
