Robert L. Brink, 74, of the McVille section of South Buffalo Twp., Armstrong Co, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home. Bob was born in South Buffalo Twp. on April 7, 1948, a son of the late Helen E. (Bennamen) and Arthur E. Brink. Bob was a 1967 graduate of Freeport Area High School. After graduation he took a job at Braeburn Steel. In November of 68' Bob was drafted in the US Army. He served with the 61st Infantry Regiment of the 5th US Army during the Vietnam War. Bob received the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious service in a combat zone. Bob was also awarded the Purple Heart medal for wounds received ending his military career. After his honorable discharge in the spring of 1970, Bob returned home to the Freeport area. He worked numerous jobs for the next 30 years. He was a general contractor, car mechanic, security guard and did some janitorial work. He then took a job with the Rosebud Mining Co. in Shelocta. Bob worked as an Outside Maintenance/Equipment Operator for over 10 years, retiring January 7, 2013. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, and was just a jack of all trades. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leona A. (Lawrence) Brink; daughter, Deborah Brink and Shawn Matis of Vandergrift; and his son, Robert L. (Tracie Jo) Brink, Jr. of Templeton. He is also survived by his grandson, Gregory Stobert, Jr., Step grandchildren, Audra Walters, Arlie (Kent) Galbraith, Joseph (Danielle) Walters, six great grandchildren; Two sisters, Barbara (Clair) Shankle, of South Buffalo Twp.; Joyce Brink, of Creighton and his brother, Edward (Hatti) Brink, of Slate Lick. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas P. Brink and James K. Brink, Sr. Family and friends will be received on Friday May 6th from 2-5 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 5 pm with Pastor Tim Kutch officiating.
