Rose Marie Szymanski, 91, formerly of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 22, 2023, in the state of Georgia. She had been residing near her daughter in Georgia since mid-2021. Rose was born in Vandergrift, PA on December 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Virginia (Maglocci) and Samuel Mendicino, Sr. She was the widow of Stanley Szymanski who passed in 2020. Rose spent many years as a resident of Vandergrift and was a longtime member of St. Gertrudes church. She spent many years working in the Prothonotary’s Office at the Greensburg Courthouse. While raising her four children, Rose was very involved in the school and with her children’s activities. She was a member of the Freeport Band Boosters and the PTA. Rose enjoyed walking, exercising, neighborhood card club and was a regular at many area bible study groups. Rose was an avid bowler as a southpaw and maintained an average of 145 in her bowling league. Rose’s card game of choice was 500 Rummy and could beat any willing opponent. She was a sports fan like no other and spent many summer nights watching her two favorite teams – the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs. In the fall, she would be watching the Steelers and rooting them on week in and week out. She took much pride in her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and always put her family and God as the priorities in her life. Rose is survived by her two daughters, Patrice Szymanski, of League City, TX. And Diane and Michael Godby, of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by her two sons, Frank and Rachael Szymanski, of Harmony and Tony Szymanski, of Leechburg. Her survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Rose is preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Neale, Isabel Rendek, Josephine Moliterno and brother, Samuel Mendicino. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 1 from 9:30-11:30 am in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St. in Freeport. Then a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Saturday at the Guardian Angels Parish in Natrona Heights.
