Ruth Jean (Hartman) Conaway

Ruth Jean Conaway, 90, of Ford City, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 peacefully, at Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital. Jean was born in South Buffalo Twp, on June 4, 1932, a daughter of the late Verna (Smock) and Samuel Hartman. She was the widow of Clarence S. "Cutty" Conaway who passed in 2008. Jean was a 1950 graduate of Freeport High School. She was a former member of Roger's Chapel United Presbyterian in the McVille section of South Buffalo Twp. Jean was a member of the Kit-Hanee Rock & Gem Club. She enjoyed quilting and casino trips with friends and family. Jean is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (John) Stewart, of Kittanning Twp. Sons Barry (Pam) Conaway, of South Buffalo Twp. and Michael (Renee) Conaway, of Butler. Her 8 grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Conaway, Jeff (Jami) Conaway, Greg (Kristen) Conaway, Bret (Marley) Conaway, Brenna (Aaron) Steighner, and Melanie (Dave) Hetrick, Philip Stewart and Megan Rehrer, and 15 great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by four sisters, Edith (Paul) Miller, Ester Porter, Pauline Rosborough and Karen Cobbett In addition to her parents and her husband, Jean is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Etta Claypoole, Eleanor Hartman and an infant brother, Thomas Hartman. Family and friends will be received on Friday April 21st from 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 22nd at 10 am with Pastor Terri Wells of Ford Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be held in McVille Union Cemetery in South Buffalo Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
