Sandra K. (Evans) Moon

Sandra K Moon, 78, of Buffalo Township, passed away November 20, 2024, following a brief illness. She was born October 24, 1946 in New Kensington, PA, to the late Jack and Hazel Evans. She was a 1964 graduate of New Kensington High School and then studied at Citizens School of Nursing where she held her first nursing position at Citizens General Hospital. She worked for 50 years at Alle-Kiski Medical Center and held various positions retiring in 2020 as a Case Manager. Throughout her long career she cared for countless patients and touched the lives of many. She also was a wonderful friend to her co-workers and was so thankful for their friendship. Sandra’s favorite times, though, were with her family, husband, children, grand and great-grandchildren. Her best days were ones surrounded by family whether it was cooking for a holiday or spending a Sunday afternoon playing with the great-grandchildren. She lived to make her family feel special and spent her life making that happen through her generosity and kindness. Sandra was also a great lover of animals and cared for her dogs with the same compassion that she shared with everyone. She was a huge Steeler fan and found any win over the Browns to be the most satisfying. Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years Richard L. Moon; daughter, Beth Silliman of Tarentum; step-daughters Cheryl Moon of Freedom, PA and Terri (Kevin) Kutzavitch of North Fayette, PA; grandchildren Thomas (Brittany Gaito) Silliman, Gina Sirianni, Morgan Kutzavitch, Kendall Kutzavitch, Jeremiah Silliman and Danielle Silliman; great-grandchildren – Thomas and Madeline Silliman; sister Vicki (Ray) Pieranunzi of Indiana Township; sister-in-law Janet (John) Rovnan; nephews John Pieranunzi, John (Kelly) and Mark (Helene) Rovana; niece Kristy (John) McLay; multiple grand-nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Timothy Gifford, Sr. and son Timothy Gifford, Jr.; and son-in-law, Thomas Silliman Sr.. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 10 am in the funeral home with Pastor Adam Clever officiating. Interment will follow at Freeport Cemetery.
