Shirley H. Gorog, 82, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Shirley was born in Natrona Heights, on March 7, 1943, a daughter of Ruth (Mainhart) Henry, of Freeport and the late Robert M. Henry. She was a graduate of the class of 1961 from Freeport High School where she performed with the Yellow Jackets as a majorette. After High school she attended Mason Felix beauty school and obtained her license as a beautician while working at G.C.Murphy's. She was the head of the advertising department at Valley News Dispatch Western Pennsylvania Printing in Tarentum, for 23 years. Shirley loved being part of the Girl Scouts with her daughter and lead the bowling league as the secretary, historian and manager of awards. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. Shirley enjoyed going to flea markets, was magical at planning family vacations and always made everyone feel loved. Shirley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Albert and Belle Mainhart and paternal grandparents Septimus and Dorothy Henry. Family who will carry on her legacy is her husband of 63 years, Robert Gorog, her son, Mark (Gloria) Gorog, of South Buffalo Twp.; and her daughter, Michelle (Luca) Roseano, of Navarre, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Robert (Janna) Gorog, Jack, Julia, Luke & Luna Roseano, brother, Donald (Linda) Henry; two sisters, Jane (Leonard) Burd and Jean Henry. Step- grandchildren, Kori (Jim) Hill, Clint (Niki Nowatkowski) Skillen, 2 step great grandchildren John (Leslie) Hill and Katie (Dylan) Beachem, 2 great-great grandchildren, Colby & Cami Hill; and Eileen Collins, who was her lifelong friend and helped with her care. Family and friends will be received on Saturday June 28th from 10-11 a.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 11 am with Pastor Paul Gorog officiating. Burial will be held in Brookland Cemetery, Leechburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania (PFWPA) 850 Cranberry Woods Drive, Suite 2222 Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
