Sidney R. Hill

Sidney R. Hill, 82, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away Monday, June 10th, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Sid was born in Natrona Heights on July 20, 1941, a son of the late Virginia I. (VanDyke) and Raymond L. Hill. A Navy Veteran, Sid served his country from 1960-1964. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver and volunteered every week for Meals on Wheels in Freeport for the last 20 years. He was a truck driver at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge, for 31 years, retiring in 2004. Sid enjoyed gardening, traveling, weekly golfing with a long time friend, and never had a problem striking up a conversation with anyone. He cherished spending time with his family, and was especially proud of all of his grandchildren. Sidney is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen J. (Wylie) Hill; his daughter, Jennifer (Thomas) Johnson, of Hebron, KY, and his 4 grandchildren, Katie (Raichel) De Freitas, Tommy (Alivia) Johnson, Joey Johnson, and Maggie Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul E. Hill and sisters Annette J. Pirrone and Sally H. Smith. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 16th from 12-2 & 4-6 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, June 17th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver with Pastor Shawn Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sarverville Cemetery, Sarver. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels 211 4th St, Freeport, PA 16229 or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 409 Sarver Rd, Sarver, PA 16055.
