Stella I. Uleski, 99, of Butler, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, while in the company of family, at her daughter's home. Stella was born in Natrona, Sept. 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Mary Ann (Nitoski) and Adam Rykaceski. Stella lived most of her life in the Laneville section of Freeport. She was the widow of Stephen G. Uleski who passed in 1993.During World War II, Stella worked as a mirror polisher at Liberty Mirror in Brackenridge. She was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church Freeport. Stella volunteered for many years with the Freeport Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing bingo, quilting and cooking. Stella is survived by her two daughters, Christine Shaffer, of Tarentum and Barbara Jean (Phil) Abraham, of Butler; her grandchildren, Diana (Regis) Charlton, Andrea Shaffer, Phillip (Darla) Abraham, Brian Abraham and Alicia (Dan) Jordan; and five great-grandchildren. Stella is also survived by her sister, Jean Myers, of Rural Ridge. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Joseph, Steve and John Rykaceski; sister, Sophie Carter; and her son-in-law, William Shaffer. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St. in Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, with the Rev. Edward Volz, OPS officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport.
