Thomas M. "Tom" Thomas

Thomas "Tom" M. Thomas, 76, of South Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, while surrounded by his family, at his home. Tom was born Indiana July 31, 1945, a son of the late Sarah Grace (Miller) and William E. Thomas. Tom was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a 1965 graduate of Allegheny Technical Institute. He served proudly in the Navy aboard the USS Casa Grande in the Mediterranean during the Vietnam War. After his service to his country, Tom came home and took a job with Slate Construction in Freeport. He then was employed as an installation and repair technician/ PBX installer at North Pittsburgh Telephone Co., Wexford, for over 40 years. He retired in 2010. Tom taught his sons the value of hard work and love of family with a stern hand and soft heart. He was always working and tinkering on projects around his home, in the garage, in the yard or cutting firewood. He loved spending time with family at camp in Elk County. His greatest love was his family and especially his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sally A. (Lowers) Thomas, who lovingly served as Tom's primary caregiver for the last several years of his life; three sons, Matthew (Kimberly) Thomas, of South Buffalo Township, Daniel (Carrie) Thomas, of Buffalo Township and Andrew (Bethany) Thomas, of South Buffalo Township; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Nevea, Nathan and Nylee. He is also survived by his sister, June (John) Cicola; and two brothers-in-law, Val (Dorothy) Lowers and Phil Lowers. Tom was preceded in death by his three brothers, William C., James and Robert Thomas; and two sisters, Carol Kelly and Donna Jean Fleming. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St. in Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the funeral home.
