Tommy Thompson Obituary

Tommy L. Thompson, 80, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Quality Life Services in Winfield Twp. Tommy was born in Natrona Heights, PA on January 28, 1944, a son of the late Dorothy (Gaillott) and George W. Thompson, Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Freeport High School. Tom enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. Tom worked for Liberty Mirror for several years. He then took a position as a foreman for PPG Industries in Meadville for 20 years. When the Meadville plant closed, he took another foreman position at PPG in Ford City for another 10 years. When the Ford City plant closed, Tommy finished his career with JSP in Butler. Tom loved sports. He enjoyed watching the Steelers, Duke basketball, Freeport Yellow Jackets and he coached all of his kids Vernon Volunteer Little League baseball teams when the family lived in Meadville. He enjoyed working around his home doing yard work and had been an avid hunter in his younger years. Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy A. (Chybrzynski) Thompson. Son Greg & Ellen Thompson, of Cape Carteret, NC. Daughter, Tammy Thompson & Sherri Barnes, of Salisbury, NC and son, Mark & Stacey Thompson, of Freeport. Grandchildren, Austen & Calli Thompson, Hope Thompson, Kaitlyn Thompson & fiancé, Mark and Mark Bradley Thompson. Great granddaughter, Tia Thompson. He is also survived by his sister, Judith & James Wright, of Saxonburg, brother-in-law, Robert Crain, of Natrona Heights and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George W. Thompson, Jr., Richard A. Thompson. Infant sister, Robin Thompson, nephew, Steve Thompson and sister-in-law, Sharyn Crain At the family's request there will be a private family visitation and the burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
