Walter Kenneth “Ken” Holmes, Jr., 74, of Sarver, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born on December 11, 1951, and was a son of the late Ethel B. (Bossert) Holmes and Walter Kenneth Holmes, Sr. Ken was a 1970 graduate of Kiski Area High School. He attended Slippery Rock University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Ken worked for 25 years in sales for Ray Motors (formerly Glenn Buick). He later worked as an Industrial Regional Sales Manager for Conco Systems, Inc., retiring in 2021. Ken was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights and was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Varner) Holmes; his son, Justin (Amanda Geiser) Holmes of Houston, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Adam, Becca, Angie and Nina; and his siblings, Jeffrey A. (Joyce) Holmes of Murrysville, Brian L. (Carol) Holmes of Lower Burrell, Susan J. (the late Joseph Dutton) Holmes of Greensburg, Peggy L. (Katrina Burkett) Holmes of Murrysville, and J. Howard (Ann Bednar) Holmes of Murrysville; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassie Holmes. Friends will be received on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 3-7 pm at Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10 - 11 am at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Joe Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Baptist Church, 224 Harvest Lane, Natrona Heights, PA 15065, or to the Allegheny Valley Hospital Cancer Center, AHN Office of Development, PO Box 535604, Pittsburgh, PA 15253.
