Mr. John Renwick Steele, 94, of Allegheny Twp., passed away at 6:45 AM, Monday, February 25th, 2008 while in the company of family members at Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, PA.Mr. Steele was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on July 8, 1913, the son of the late David W. and Georgeva (Kitchen) Steele. He was the widower of Jeanne (McKeag) Steele, who passed away in 1997He was a member of Allegheny Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Twp. He served in the US Navy as an Ordinance Officer in WW II. He was deployed to the South Pacific with Ventura Squadron VP-149 He worked as a farmer off and on for most of his life. When Mr. Steele realized that farming would not enable him to put his three children through college he then took a job with Penn DOT as a Land Acquisition Officer. He also worked for the Federal Bureau of Highways for the State of Ohio. Mr. Steele is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the American Legion. A 1936 Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Business Administration Mr. Steele is survived by his 2 sons; Charles E. (Christine Weiss) Steele of Allegheny Twp, Rennick (Marushka Dembecki) Steele of Allegheny Twp. and his daughter, Ellen (Charles) Steele-Hines, of Waldo, OH. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren. Stacie (Donald) Molnar-Main of Lancaster, PA. Justin, Jonathan and Samantha Steel of Allegheny Twp. Jennifer (James) Castle of Surprise, AZ. His 5 great grandchildren ~ Naomi Jeanne Molnar-Main, Cheyenne, Zoe, Chloe and Peyton Castle. He is preceded in death by his brother David W. Steele and his sister Maxine Tiby.Family and friends are being received on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. Freeport, PA 16229 A funeral service will be held at his church, Allegheny Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Twp., PA, at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 28th, with Lay Minister Lloyd Riggle officiating. Burial will be held with full military honors at Brookland Cemetery Allegheny Twp., PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 5th Ave and 11th St. New Kensington, PA 15068 or to Allegheny Presbyterian Church, 1900 Route 356 Leechburg, PA 15656.
