Louis E. Kropp, 78, of Edgewater, FL, (formerly of Freeport) passed away on August 4, 2013, peacefully, at the Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Louis was born in Wyandotte, MI on September 29, 1934, the son of the late Mildred A. (McClowry) and Frederick C. Kropp. He served in the U.S. Army near the end of the Korean War. He worked as a foreman at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 41 years, retiring in 1993. Louis was a former member of the Freeport United Methodist Church, in Freeport and currently a member of the Coronado United Methodist Church, in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was a member of the Armstrong Lodge #239, the Pittsburgh Consistory, the Tarentum Elks, the Syria Temple in Pittsburgh, the New Smyrna Shriners Club, the Hacienda Veterans Club, and the American Legion. Louis enjoyed golfing, traveling, and square dancing. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loretta (Mannella) Kropp; his two sons Kevin Kropp, of Falls Church, VA, and Derek (Jill) Kropp, of Leonardtown, MD; his grandson Riley Kropp, of Pensacola, FL; and his step-granddaughter Kayla Dooley, of Leonardtown, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Haugh.

Family and friends will be received on Monday August 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A Masonic service will be held in the funeral home at 7 pm Monday evening. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on on Tuesday August 13th at 10:00 am with Pastor James Young officiating. Burial will be held in Sarverville Cemetery, Sarver.
