Mrs. Mildred I. Spencer, 93, of Buffalo Twp., passed away at 9:40 pm, Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 while in the company of family members at Assisted Living at Rosebrook in Sarver.

Mildred was born in Tarentum, PA on July 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Clyde and Elsie (Norris) Schroder. She was the widow of Carl W. Spencer who passed in 1996. They were married on October 1, 1938.

Mrs. Spencer attended Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church in Sarver for many years. Mildred grew up as a member of the Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church in Fawn Twp.

Mildred was a homemaker who enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens meetings in Buffalo Twp. and attending church with her friend Helen McCafferty. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and canning the vegetables that she grew. She also enjoyed going to garage sales and cutting patches for the quilting group at her church. Mildred loved spending time with all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her 4 daughters; Carol Smith of Buffalo Twp., Donna (Ted) Cousins of Jefferson Twp., Marilyn Pitkivitch of Natrona Heights, Brenda (Bill) Carbaugh of Marienville and her son Larry A. (Jane) Spencer of New Kensington. 2 sisters Marie Dick of Brackenridge and Dorothy Voekel of Tarentum. She is also survived by her 12 grand, 20 great-grand and 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred is preceded in death by her 2 son-in-laws, William Smith and Robert Pitkivitch. 3 sisters; Wilda Highfield, Glenna Stark and an her infant twin sister.

Family and friends are being received on Monday Feb 7th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA

A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 8th, with Rev. Mike Trenga of Medi Home Hospice. officiating.

Burial will be held in Sarverville Cemetery Sarver, PA.
