Mrs. Dorothy Beale Snyder, 84, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away at 3:15 PM, Thursday, October 7th, 2010 while in the company of family members at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh, Dorothy was born in Freeport, PA on August 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Ira S. and Emma (Myers) Beale. She was born in, lived, and raised her family in the same house built by her father. She was a lifelong member of Freeport United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 64 years. Dorothy made her house a home filled with flowers, bird feeders, and a table where all were welcomed and received delicious home-cooked meals any time of the day or night. She was a graduate of Freeport High School (Class of 1944) and worked at Alcoa Laboratories as a lab technician before she and her husband started their family. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles, loved summer evenings spent on the porch with family and friends, and spent weeknights at 7 pm watching Jeopardy. Dorothy was a woman of deep faith, an active and curious mind, a warm and giving spirit and amazing hospitality. We know she is now and forever with each of us.

She is survived by 3 sons John D. Snyder (Aliona Shabanona) of Greenfield, Mark A. Snyder of South Buffalo Twp., and Rick L. Snyder of South Buffalo; 2 daughters Susan Snyder of Buffalo Twp., and Sally Jo Snyder of the South Hills of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren Nathan, Seth, and Lydia Snyder; daughter-in-law Karen Snyder of Elizabethton, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband George A. "Bud" Snyder (1983); 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Family and friends are being received on Sunday from 12-2 and 5-7 p.m.. at Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. with services held on Monday in Freeport United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with the Rev. Edd Myers officiating. Burial will be held in Freeport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeport United Methodist Church,
211 4th St. Freeport, PA 16229.
