Mr. Joseph C. Skyzinski, 86, of Baden, PA passed away at 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 12th, 2009 while in the company of family members at Villa St. Joseph of Baden. Formerly of Freeport

Joseph was born in Butler Junction section of Freeport, PA on July 20, 1922, the son of the late Walter and Helen (Badaczeski) Skyzinski.

Joe was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Freeport. He served in the US Army during WW II. Joe owned and operated at Scott's Grocery Store and worked for Fishers Appliance Store, both in Freeport at the same time for many years. He closed the grocery store in the early 1970's and continued to work for Mr. Henry Fisher at the appliance store. He then purchased the appliance store when Henry Fisher passed away. He ran this store until the mid 90"s.

Joe was a life member of the Freeport Sportsman's Club and a member of the Freeport VFW. He enjoyed and a had a great passion for vegetable and flower gardening. He took great pride in his tomatoes. Joe devoted many years of his life in taking care of his sisters, Julia and Sister Mary.

Joe is survived by a sister, Marie Sander of Irwin, PA and by numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his 2 brothers; Leonard and John Skyzinski. 4 sisters; Julia Scott, Sister Mary Stephen Skyzinski, Elizabeth Metzger, Sophie Skyzinski and 3 siblings in infancy.

Family and friends are being received on Sunday March 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the
Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA

A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 am that will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, PA, at 11:00 am on Monday, March 16th, with Father Edward Volz officiating.

Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church 608 High St. Freeport, PA 16229
