Mr. Valentine Horenzy, Sr., 86, of Buffalo Twp., passed away at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 9th, 2009 while in the company of family members at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.

Valentine was born in Harwick, PA on January 30, 1923, the son of the late Rudolph and Cecelia (Waleska) Horenzy. Mr. Horenzy was of catholic faith. He served in the US Army in the 5th Army Military Police. He was stationed in South Africa, Italy and France during WW II. After his service to his country he took a job as an electrician at PPG Industries Creighton PA., for 36 years retiring in 1982. He also worked at the PPG Research Center in Harmar as well.

Val was a life member of the VFW Post # 894 in Harrison Twp. He was a member of the MORA Club in Brackenridge, Ford City Sportsmen's Club, Pine Grove Rovers RV Camping Club and a bowling league in Lower Burrell. Val enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, camping, bowling, gardening and playing cards.

Valentine is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlottia A. (Bradford) Horenzy. His son, Valentine (Patti) Horenzy, Jr. of Buffalo Twp and his daughter, Colleen (Carl) Jacot of O'Brian, FL; Valentine is also survived by a sister, Marge Fair of Springdale. 4 grandchildren; Donald (Diana) Horenzy, Tammy (Jay) Pastorek, Theresa (Bob) Roberts and Valerie (Jeff) Chittester. 6 great grandchildren; Alesia and Alyssa King, Mariah and Dylan Pokladowski and Nathan and Sydney Pastorek.

He is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Horenzy and his sister, Ann Fortuna.

Family and friends are being received on Wednesday Feb 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA

A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am that will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, PA, with Father Edward Volz officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA.
