Joseph H. Klaput, Jr. (55) of Freeport, passed away early Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Natrona Heights, PA, on October 22, 1961, he was the son of Nannie (Kuhn) Klaput and the late Joseph H. Klaput, Sr. A lifelong resident of Freeport, Joey was a 1979 graduate of Freeport High School, attended Penn State New Kensington Campus, and completed his welding certification through Airco Technical Institute. He was previously employed as a welder at Edgewater Steel and has worked for the past 17 years as the Weld Shop Supervisor at Aloma Shim and Manufacturing Company of Verona.

An avid sportsman, Joey was an expert huntsman and fisherman. He treasured time spent with his children, enjoyed his free time out of doors and visiting his “Camp I Like” in Sigel, PA. He was a member of the Heath Township and South Buffalo (TRA) Sportsmen’s Clubs and several social organizations. He was also a member of St Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Freeport.

Joey is survived by his mother, Nannie Klaput of Cabot; son Joseph H. Klaput, III, of Clarksville, TN; daughter Jessica M. Klaput of Coldspring,Texas; two sisters, Nancy (Andrew) Ruffner and Donna (Steven) Gardner, both of Freeport; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Klaput, Sr. and his beloved dog, Rascal.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 23 at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High Street, Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary Mother of God Catholic Church at 1000 on Friday, February 24. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joey can be made to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY 320 Bilmar Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15205

Our heartfelt prayers and condolences go out for his mother; Nan, his siblings and his children in this time of your mourning. We've known Joe and his parents since 2007 when we moved to Freeport. He was always a very good neighbor who was always to lend a hand when needed, an all around good guy and very friendly person. We will miss him here in Butler Junction as we're sure he will be missed by many.
