Mrs. Christine (Yurko) Reed, 83, of Buffalo Twp., passed away at 3:50 PM, Thursday, April 10th, 2008 peacefully at Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, PA.Mrs. Reed was born in Braddock, PA on December 20, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Fabian) Yurko. She was the widow of L. Anderson Reed who had passed in 1979She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Freeport, PA 16229. Christine graduated from Mars High School in 1942. She was employed as a Cafeteria Manager for the Freeport Area School District Freeport for 24. She had over seen all of the school's cafeterias, retiring in 1987. She volunteered at Allegheny Valley Hospital for many years as a Red Coat and as a Eucharistic minister. She was involved with the start up of St. Vincent DePaul Society in Leechburg. She served on the finance committee at St. Mary's and enjoyed stain glass work gardening and traveling. Mrs. Reed is survived by her 3 sons; David A. (Tej) Reed of Landisburg, PA., Dennis J. Reed and his fiance' Jill Formelius of Buffalo Twp, Robert A. (Alanna) Reed of Karns City, her daughters: Barbara Ann (Dan) Reed-Martin of Baltimore, MD. and her daughter-in-law, Tracy Reed of South Buffalo Twp. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren; Jesse, Ananda and Alexis Reed.Christine is preceded in death by her 4 brothers; Albert, John, Joseph and Andrew Reed. A sister, Mary Agnes Yurko. Family and friends are being received on Sunday 4/13 from 12-2 p.m.. in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. Freeport, PA. A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, PA, at 10:00 am on Monday, April 14th, with Rev. John T. Euker officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery.
