William "Bill" D. Thorpe, 73, of Cheswick, formerly of Freeport, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, January 16th, while in the company of family members, at his residence. . He was born in Natrona Heights, on February 18, 1939, the son of the late Mary Ann (Pittman) and William G. Thorpe. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Bill worked as a carpenter at ConRail, in McDonald, Pa, retiring after 25 years. He enjoyed boating, and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his three sons Lenny Thorpe, of Cheswick, Devon Thorpe, of Creighton, and Kyle Thorpe, of Creighton; his two daughters Lori Thorpe, of Tarentum. and Hallie (Vince) Kwiatek, of Saltsburg; four granddaughters Brianna Thorpe, Crystal Marchlewski, Brooke Yuengling, and Haley Mascarello; brother James Thorpe, of Harmarville; and five sisters Shirley Johnson, of North Carolina, Peggy Moose, of San Antonio, TX, Grace (David) Foster, of North Port, AL, Jean (John) Truckley, of Apollo, and Bonnie Thorpe of Tennessee.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Charles Thorpe.

At the family's request there will be no visitation and the burial will be private.
