Melvin Henry Brown, Ph.D., 92 of Seaford, Delaware passed away September 12th at his home. He was born in Pilot Twp., IA on December 6, 1919. Dr. Brown was a retired research scientist with Alcoa in New Kensington, from 1949 to 1986. His many achievements include 2 Arthur Vining Davis awards, and 53 patents for his many discoveries. He published numerous articles and was most proud of his work for the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Jamestown, NY. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Stodgell Brown; his sister and his four children, Marianne Brown Grantz of Seaford, DE, William Brown of Apollo, Robert Brown of Loganville, GA, and Ellen Brown Agett of Jamestown, NY.; his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport on Monday September 17th at 10:30 a.m. Internment will follow in Brookland Cemetery in Allegheny Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Ave MIlford, DE 19963.
