It was such a great reunion to see Fred at my father's visitation, having grown apart since our days at Freeport High. It was wonderful for my family to meet the man I talked about over the years. The many times of running back and forth to each other's house as youngsters, to celebrating birthdays a day apart, from playing kickball, fighting about safe or not (he would take his ball and go home at that point) only to sleep over a few hours later, to jumping the fence down at the field to play football or king of the hill before football games, to giving a kid a ride to school because he had the car, he was and always will be known for his kindness to many people. No words can come close to express how truly sad I, and the community of Freeport I am sure, are for you Fred, Bev, Tammy, Patty, and his wife and children. As long as there is a Freeport, there will always be fond memories of Fred Campbell, III.

Heather and Children,
You have our deepest sympathies. We are very old friends of Fred. He was such a kind and caring man. I'm sure you will always cherish the times you had together. Blaine and I were thinking of him fondly and remembering many of the times we all spent together. He was always good to everyone. He has touched so many people's lives and we are better for it. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Fred's family. He was always such a good man. He will be deeply missed by so many. Blaine and I were reminiscing over all the times Blaine spent with him as kids and later years, when he would come to our house. He was good to everyone. Anyone who knew him was better for, knowing him. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Heather and family,
I worked with Fred many years ago as a Program Instructor at Passavant. He was a wonderful co-worker and person. He always had a way to put a smile on your face, even when you were in the worst mood possible. He just had that way of cheering you up. I remember how he would tease me for being terrified of spiders . Once he found one and placed it under a plastic cup on my desk for a joke. Later he removed it, but got a good laugh at my reaction at the sight of the thing. Had to admit it was funny tho. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
