Henry H. VanTine, Sr., 90, of Freeport, passed away on Sunday, July 23rd, surrounded by family, at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot. Henry was born in Freeport on October 28, 1926, a son of the late Edna (Atkinson) and Gilpen M. VanTine, Sr. He served in the U.S. Marines during WW II. Henry was a clayman and blaster at Freeport Brick for 32 years. He then worked in the maintenance department at the Freeport School District for 14 yrs. Later he worked at BJ's Auto Service in Freeport for 5 years. He was a member of Word of Faith in Natrona, and also attended Evangel Heights in Buffalo Twp. Henry enjoyed working on tractors and lawn mowers, playing the harmonica, and playing horseshoes and having picnics at the VanTine farm.

He is survived by his 2 sons Walter (Sherry) VanTine of Freeport and Terry (Sharon) VanTine of Cabot, 2 daughters Kathy (Barry) Porter, of Emlenton and Carol (Donald) Hedglin of Freeport; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Melissa Jane Mazerik, of Natrona Heights; brother, Thomas VanTine, of Cabot; and daughter-in-law Rita VanTine of Herman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Vera M. (Baptiste) VanTine; son Henry "Butch" VanTine, Jr, daughter Vera "Babs" McGuire, granddaughter Jackilynn Porter, brothers Gilpen VanTine, Jr,, Richard VanTine and Roy George, and sisters Lilian Booher and Margaret Ruffner.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday July 25th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26th in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Nulph officiating. Burial will be private.
