Betty J. Rassau, 92, of Natrona Heights, passed away Saturday, September 22nd, peacefully, at Family Hospice in Pittsburgh. She went to meet John, her loving husband of 72 years, in the garden of heaven. Betty was born in Indianola, PA on September 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Vera (Dahlstrom) and Elmer G. Goughenour. Betty was the widow of John J. Rassau who passed away just last year. Betty was a life member of the CD of A and Ladies Guild at OLMBS. She was a past Girl Scout Leader, and was also involved with the Boy Scouts. Betty had been a teachers aid at Blessed Sacrament School and assisted children with reading. She volunteered at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Betty was an Airplane Spotter for the US Air Force during WW II. She loved writing and wrote several books of memories for her family. She and her husband ran their craft business, HoMade Crafts. Betty was an avid reader and user of Facebook. Betty is survived by her son, John R. & Debbie Rassau, of Allison Park. Daughters, Cathy A. Rassau, of Plum Boro and Sue M. & Bob Bouch, of Natrona Heights. Grandchildren; John M. Rassau, Christa L. (Steve) Dolansky, A.J. (Sarah) Rassau, Billy (Teresa) Eckman, Lisa (Allen) Hamlin, and Mark Eckman & Heather Spencer. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband. Betty is preceded by her 2 brothers, Samuel & Elwood Goughenour and 3 sisters, Ellen Everett, Lucille Sarver & June Schwietering. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday Sept. 25th from 2-4 & 6-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 26th at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, PA with Father Ronald Maquinana officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Freeport Renaissance Association P.O.
